Former England and Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been appointed interim coach of Bristol City following the dismissal of Gerhard Struber. The 78-year-old takes over after the Championship club went six matches without a win across all competitions.

Hodgson previously managed Bristol City in 1982-his first English club role-and brings decades of top-flight experience, including UEFA Cup and Europa League finals with Inter Milan and Fulham.

Bristol City currently sit 12 points clear of the relegation zone with seven matches remaining. Their FA Cup run ended with a loss to League One side Port Vale.

"Roy's appointment is about more than the results of the next seven games," said CEO Charlie Boss. "He will help us set the standards and values we need for long-term success."

The team’s next match is April 3 against Charlton Athletic.
