Napoli confirmed the departure of manager Antonio Conte with a brief four-word statement on Monday, hours after he announced his exit and clashed with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

"Thanks for everything, coach," the club posted on social media.

Napoli secured a second-place finish in Serie A behind champions Inter Milan with a 1-0 win over Udinese. Conte revealed plans to step down during a press conference where tensions rose.

De Laurentiis argued Napoli would have defended their title if not for injuries to key players Scott McTominay, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Conte pushed back, insisting Inter deserved full credit for their championship, saying, "We have to acknowledge others' victories and show respect."

Both sides acknowledged the decision to part ways was made months ago.
