Real Madrid has officially signed French defender Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer. The LaLiga giants confirmed the center-back joins on a contract running through June 2030.
The 27-year-old arrives from Liverpool after failing to agree on an extension at Anfield. He is currently representing France at the World Cup.
Konaté becomes one of José Mourinho’s first acquisitions since returning for a second managerial spell. He joins new teammates Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella in Madrid.
The defender spent five seasons at Liverpool following his 2021 move from RB Leipzig. He made 183 appearances and anchored the defense during their 2024-25 Premier League title campaign alongside Virgil van Dijk.
His tenure at Anfield also included two League Cups, an FA Cup victory, and a Champions League runner-up finish in 2022.
