Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25 percent stake in Spanish second-tier side Almeria.

Ronaldo, who played for Real Madrid, invested through his company CR7 Sports. Almeria, recently relegated from LaLiga and under new ownership by Saudi-based SMC Group, did not disclose financial terms.

"UD Almeria is a Spanish club with a strong foundation and clear growth potential," Ronaldo stated. The club currently sits third in the Spanish second division.
