OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 in a dominant performance Saturday night.
The Senators (36-24-9) scored the first three goals of the game. Joseph Woll made 39 saves in the win. Linus Ullmark made a key glove save in the second period.
Claude Giroux and John Tavares each contributed to the offensive output. Tavares reached 519 career goals, moving into 41st on the NHL’s all-time list.
The Leafs (29-29-13) struggled with Ottawa’s forecheck and were held to five shots in the second period.
