FIFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the Spanish Football Federation concerning alleged anti-Muslim chants during a friendly match against Egypt. The incidents occurred on March 31 at RCDE Stadium in Catalonia, Spain. Fans were reportedly heard chanting, "jump, jump, jump, whoever doesn’t jump is a Muslim." The stadium announcer issued a warning regarding discriminatory behavior.

Spain's 18-year-old star, Lamine Yamal, a Muslim, condemned the chants as "ignorant and racist." He stated, "Football is to enjoy and support, not to offend people by who they are or what they believe in."

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) denounced the behavior, stating they "stand against racism in football and condemn any act of violence inside stadiums." Spain's minister of education, vocational training and sport, along with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, also condemned the chants. Coach Luis de la Fuente called the messaging "completely intolerable."
