Mikaela Shiffrin, the U.S. skiing star and sport's most decorated athlete, has won gold in the women's slalom at the 2026 Olympics. Shiffrin, 30, appeared emotional after her victory, completing her best event with a combined time of 1:39.10. She finished 1.5 seconds ahead of Switzerland's Camille Rast, with Anna Swenn Larsson of Sweden taking third place.

Shiffrin had established an early lead in the first run, finishing in 47.13 seconds. This win ends a drought of eight consecutive Olympic events without a medal for the World Cup circuit's biggest winner. Her last Olympic medal was in 2018.
