The Carolina Hurricanes evened the Stanley Cup Final in dramatic fashion, storming back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in overtime.
Seth Jarvis, who had faced criticism for a quiet postseason, buried a power-play one-timer in the extra frame to send the Lenovo Center crowd into a frenzy.
Vegas appeared in control after Brett Howden's two first-period goals gave them a 2-0 lead. But Carolina roared back in the third period. Logan Stankoven and Mark Jankowski scored to tie the game, and Jordan Staal's power-play goal with 4:35 left gave the Hurricanes a 3-2 lead.
Golden Knights captain Mark Stone tied it with less than two minutes remaining, forcing overtime. There, a tripping penalty on Vegas's Tomas Hertl set up Jarvis's heroics.
The series now shifts to Las Vegas for Game 3, tied at one game apiece.
