South Korea's Kim Gil-li has won the women's 1,500 metres short track final at the Winter Olympics. Choi Min-jeong, the defending champion and also from South Korea, secured the silver medal. Corinne Stoddard of the U.S. claimed the bronze.
Italian speed skater Arianna Fontana, who was aiming for a record-equalling medal, finished fifth. Fontana's performance followed a fall during her earlier quarter-final race.
This marks Kim's first Olympic gold medal in an individual event. She was part of the South Korean team that previously won gold in the women's relay and secured a bronze in the 1,000 metres at these Games.
