Spain's men's national team has reached the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, capping a period of unprecedented dominance. The squad is on a 37-game unbeaten streak, having won the 2023 UEFA Nations League, the 2024 European Championship, and the 2024 Olympic gold medal in the last three years.
The success extends to the women's program, which won its first-ever World Cup in 2023 and a UEFA Nations League title in 2025.
"They have an identity, a philosophy, they all play the same way at every level," said World Cup winner Thierry Henry. "When Spain has the ball, they don’t give you the ball back."
Head coach Luis de la Fuente is central to this system. He previously led Spain's youth teams for nine years. Since taking the senior job, he has coached 14 World Cup and Euros matches without a single loss, winning 13.
Spain will play for the World Cup title on Sunday at New York New Jersey Stadium.
