Brighton & Hove Albion finalized a deal to sign Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur for an initial fee of £46 million. Performance-related add-ons are included in the package.

At 19 years old, Vuskovic has already earned international caps for Croatia. He spent the previous season on loan at Hamburg SV, where he emerged as one of the top defensive prospects in Germany's second division.

The negotiations escalated quickly. Brighton initially bid £30 million in mid-June. Tottenham rejected that figure, prompting a series of increased offers that eventually reached a £45 million package before both clubs settled on the final terms.

For Tottenham, the transaction represents pure profit for a player who never made a senior appearance. Brighton benefits by adding a ball-playing defender who fits the club’s development-focused culture. The performance-based escalators tied to appearances and achievements provide financial downside protection, ensuring the full cost materializes only upon the player’s on-field success.
