Defending Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner progressed to the third round with a controlled, straight-sets victory over Nuno Borges.

The top seed, watched by members of Europe's Ryder Cup team, won 7-6(4) 7-6(2) 6-4. The match was a stark contrast to his first-round struggle.

Borges, ranked 48th, applied pressure and had a set point in the second set. However, Sinner broke back and dominated the tiebreak to seize control.

The victory marks a significant milestone for Sinner. He now holds the Italian record for most Grand Slam match wins, with 95, surpassing Nicola Pietrangeli.
