Shedeur Sanders will wear No. 2 for the Cleveland Browns in the 2026 NFL season, ditching the No. 12 he used as a rookie.

The change coincides with wide receiver DeAndre Carter no longer being on the roster. Sanders wore No. 2 at Jackson State University before joining Colorado when his father, Deion Sanders, became head coach.

Sanders stepped into the starting role late in the 2025 season after Joe Flacco was traded and Dillon Gabriel struggled with injury. He went 3-4 in seven starts, earning a Pro Bowl nod.

New head coach Todd Monken has not named a starter for the offseason. Deshaun Watson and Gabriel remain in the mix, setting up a competitive quarterback battle.

Despite uncertainty, Sanders aims to build on his promising rookie campaign with renewed focus-and a familiar number.
