Sabastian Sawe has made history at the London Marathon, becoming the first athlete to run a sub-two-hour marathon in a competitive race. The 31-year-old Kenyan crossed the finish line to win in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds, significantly surpassing the previous record.
This historic performance also saw debutant Yomif Kejelcha finish second, also under the two-hour mark. In the women's race, Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa set a new world record for a women-only field.
Swiss athlete Marcel Hug secured his eighth London Marathon victory in the elite men's wheelchair race, while Catherine Debrunner retained the elite women's wheelchair title.
