Three men are facing charges in Singapore for allegedly falsifying finswimming race timings. The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) reported suspected fraudulent submissions by the Singapore Underwater Federation (SUF).
Investigators found that in January 2023, the three SUF coaches allegedly manipulated race results from an overseas event. These falsified results were submitted to the SNOC as an appeal, leading to the selection of six SUF athletes for the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, who would not have qualified otherwise.
The accused, aged 33, 35, and 56, will be charged with abetment by conspiracy to commit forgery for the purpose of cheating. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine. Police emphasize a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent activities.
