Toronto has officially completed renovations to expand its stadium to 45,000 seats ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The venue, temporarily renamed Toronto Stadium for the event, now features two temporary stands added by Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment.
The upgrades allow the city to host five group-stage matches and one Round of 32 knockout game. Mayor Olivia Chow declared the city ready, while Liberal MP Vince Gasparro called the tournament a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase Canada.
Games begin June 12 with Canada’s opening match, followed by fixtures featuring Germany, Ghana, Croatia, and Senegal. The final Toronto match is scheduled for July 2.
