Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jared McCain says he’s comfortable in his own skin despite online hate for painting his nails and posting TikTok dances.
McCain, 22, told Andscape after the Thunder’s Game 2 win over the San Antonio Spurs, “The painting of the nails, the TikTok (dances) and being able to do that, I definitely got hate for it.” He credited his parents and family for giving him the confidence to be himself.
McCain has over five million TikTok followers and two million on Instagram for his dance videos. Despite homophobic slurs in his comments, he says basketball remains his focus.
Acquired midseason from the Philadelphia 76ers, McCain contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists off the bench in Game 2. He averaged over 10 points per game in 30 regular-season appearances with Oklahoma City.
The Thunder face the Spurs in Game 3 on Friday.
