TORONTO - The City of Toronto and Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) have unveiled extensive upgrades to Toronto Stadium in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The renovations include the addition of 17,000 seats, a state-of-the-art pitch, and major hospitality enhancements.
Key upgrades include four LED boards, an upgraded control room, a sound isolation booth, 32 new suites, 4,000 hospitality seats, enhanced audio and Wi-Fi, and 140-180 menu options. Ten thousand of the new seats are on the north end, with 7,000 on the south end.
Mayor Olivia Chow, Toronto World Cup executive director Sharon Bollenbach, MLSE COO Nick Eaves, MP Vince Gasparro, and FIFA World Cup Executive Director Don Hardman attended the unveiling. A media tour highlighted new features and preparations before FIFA takes over the stadium on May 13.
Toronto will host six World Cup matches, beginning with Canada’s opening game on June 12 and concluding with a round of 32 match on July 2. Mayor Chow expressed her excitement and satisfaction with the upgrades.
