Winnipeg is set to host the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for the first time in nearly a decade. The Canada Life Centre will be the venue for a Fight Night card on Saturday, April 18.

Canadian welterweight Mike Malott

Headlining the event is Canadian welterweight Mike Malott, who boasts a 13-2-1 record. The 34-year-old fighter, brother of former NHL player Jeff Malott, will face Brazilian contender Gilbert Burns. Malott, with a 6-1 record in the UFC, is on a three-fight win streak.

UFC Fight Night card announcement

This marks the third UFC event in Winnipeg, following UFC on Fox in 2017 and UFC 161 in 2013. Tickets for the April 18 event go on sale March 6.
