MANCHESTER, England, March 17 : Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr scored twice as the Spanish side advanced to the Champions League quarter‑finals on Tuesday, defeating 10-man Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory.
Vinicius put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after VAR ruled Bernardo Silva had handled his shot on the line, reducing City to 10 men. Erling Haaland equalized in the 41st minute, but Vinicius completed his brace in the 93rd minute from the edge of the six-yard box.
Real Madrid, 15-times winners of Europe's elite club competition, had previously stunned Manchester City 3-0 in the first leg in Madrid when Federico Valverde scored a hat-trick.
