Manchester City crushed Manchester United 3-0 in a WSL derby at Old Trafford, moving within reach of their first league title since 2016.
Vivianne Miedema scored twice in the first half, giving City an early lead they never surrendered. Lauren Hemp hit the crossbar before Miedema opened scoring with a looping header from a corner in the 17th minute.
Miedema struck again two minutes later, leaping to head home Kerstin Casparij's cross for her second goal. Casparij added the third goal early in the second half, converting from the far post after Hemp's cross evaded United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
City now leads the table with 49 points from 19 games, while United sits second with 38 points. Chelsea remains third with 37 points and Arsenal fourth with 35 points despite having three games in hand.
United struggled throughout the match, managing their first shot on target only late in the second half. The victory positions City to claim their first WSL crown in eight years under manager Marc Skinner's opposition.
