CARDIFF, Wales, March 14 - Wales overwhelmed Italy 31-17 to end a 15-match losing streak in the Six Nations, their longest run of defeats since the 2023 World Cup.

Aaron Wainwright scored two first-half tries, while captain Dewi Lake added another as Wales led 21-0 at halftime. Dan Edwards extended the lead with a second-half try and drop goal, making it 31-0 in the 48th minute.

Italy responded with three tries - Tommaso di Bartolomeo’s mauling score in the 53rd minute, Tommaso Allan’s effort, and Paolo Garbisi’s late try - but too late to alter the outcome.

The win boosts morale for a Welsh side that had conceded 102 points in opening losses to England and France, though they remain bottom of the standings. A win by England against France could still prevent them from finishing last.
