TEHRAN - Iran accused NATO of active complicity in the US-led war against the country after Secretary-General Mark Rutte disclosed operational details.

Rutte told Fox News that 500 American planes took off from bases in Italy for Operation Epic Fury, and that Romania had to restrict commercial flights to accommodate tanker aircraft.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei called the statement a 'clear and damning admission of NATO's active complicity in an unlawful war of aggression against a sovereign UN Member State.'

Italy's defense ministry quickly distanced itself, saying it had authorized only 'technical and logistical' flights under existing agreements.
