Norway defender Leo Ostigard has become a father while competing in the World Cup. The 26-year-old welcomed his first child via FaceTime days after scoring in Norway’s 4-1 victory over Iraq.

Ostigard provided long-distance support to his partner, Aurora Eidmann, during the birth of their son on Friday. He described the virtual experience as exhausting yet amazing, calling it the greatest moment of his life. Teammate Erling Haaland reportedly offered parenting advice throughout the process.

The celebration was brief but spirited. Shortly after the birth, teammates Sander Berge, Erling Haaland, and Joergen Strand Larsen entered Ostigard’s hotel room to congratulate the new father.

Ostigard says the safe arrival of his son brings relief and joy as he prepares for Norway’s Group I match against Senegal at New York/New Jersey Stadium on Monday.
