The DR Congo national team faces a disrupted path to the World Cup after a training camp in Belgium was cancelled due to the escalating Ebola outbreak.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has banned entry from non-Americans who have been in the DR Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan within the past 21 days.
All of DR Congo's players are based outside the country and will not be directly affected by the travel restrictions.
However, health officials warn that any new arrivals who become symptomatic could jeopardize the entire team's participation in the tournament.
The World Health Organization (WHO) raised the public health risk from the Ebola outbreak from "high" to "very high" on Friday.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated the risk in the wider African region is "high" but remains "low" globally.
DR Congo is scheduled to play friendlies against Denmark on June 3 in Belgium and Chile on June 9 in Spain.
The World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19. DR Congo's opening match is against Portugal on June 17.
