The kick-off of the FIFA World Cup is just over a month away. New analysis from the Parliamentary Budget Officer estimates each of the 13 games played on Canadian soil will cost taxpayers $82 million.

The PBO report released Wednesday shows total federal commitments for co-hosting the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup are $1.1 billion. The federal government is contributing $473 million, with the remaining $593 million coming from other levels of government.
