The upcoming Women's Twenty20 World Cup will feature a record prize pool of $8.8 million, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Monday. The winners are slated to receive $2.3 million.

The 12-team tournament is scheduled to take place in England and Wales starting June 12. New Zealand will aim to defend the title they secured in 2024.

Runners-up will earn $1.17 million, with both losing semi-finalists set to receive $675,000 each. Every participating team is guaranteed a minimum of $248,000.

While a significant increase, this prize pool is smaller than recent men's and women's World Cups. Last year's Women's World Cup had a $13.9 million pool, and the 2023 men's T20 World Cup offered $11.25 million.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta stated, "The continued rise of women’s cricket through increased investment and opportunity reflects the growing influence and impact of female athletes on the global stage."
