CARDIFF, March 14 - Wales ended a three-year drought in the Six Nations, defeating Italy 31-17 at the Principality Stadium in front of a 70,000-strong crowd.
Coach Steve Tandy praised his young squad for their discipline and effort, calling the win a culmination of growing confidence. The team outscored Italy 4-3 with tries, overcoming a 31-0 lead before securing the result.
The victory marks Wales’ first Six Nations win since March 2023 and comes after 25 losses in 27 internationals since the 2023 World Cup. Tandy emphasized the importance of creating a positive environment for national representation.
"The intent was there from the start," he said. "They’re young, desperate to learn, and their effort is amazing."
