Anthropic is reportedly set to launch its most powerful model, Claude Opus 5, this week. The move is a direct response to OpenAI's recently released GPT-5.6.

The company's current flagship is Claude Opus 4.8. Unverified reports suggest the new model, codenamed 'Honeycomb,' may feature a context window of up to 1 million tokens.

OpenAI has claimed GPT-5.6 demonstrates superiority over Anthropic's mid-tier Claude Fable 5 in coding and efficiency. The primary benchmark comparisons will be closely watched if Opus 5 launches.

Anthropic has not officially confirmed the release. If the new model underwhelms compared to GPT-5.6, the competitive narrative could shift back to OpenAI.
