Amazon announced a multi-billion-dollar partnership with Corning to expand U.S.-based manufacturing of optical fiber and connectivity products, critical for AI data centers. The multi-year deal will create 1,000 jobs at Corning's North Carolina facilities.
The companies will also collaborate to expand Corning's fiber optic technician training program with Catawba Valley Community College.
Corning shares rose 7% in early trading, as the news offset concerns about weakness in its Gorilla Glass business.
Corning has separately partnered with Nvidia to expand U.S. fiber optics manufacturing.
