Anthropic has rolled out native Claude integrations across Microsoft Office, placing its AI assistant directly inside Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. The add-ins, now generally available for the core three applications and in public beta for Outlook, eliminate the need for users to copy-paste content between Claude's web interface and their documents.

In Excel, Claude can analyze data, suggest formulas, and interpret complex spreadsheets. Within PowerPoint, it assists with slide creation and content structuring. For Word, it handles drafting, editing, and formatting tasks inline. The Outlook integration helps with email triage, drafting replies, and scheduling meetings.

These integrations are built on Microsoft’s Connector Platform, MCP, allowing Claude to query documents stored in SharePoint and OneDrive, as well as Outlook emails. This cross-application access is available across all Claude plans and can be accessed through the Microsoft Marketplace. Anthropic notes that credentials are stored locally in browser sandboxes, separate from their own servers.

Claude models, including Sonnet 4.5, Haiku 4.5, and Opus 4.1, have been part of Microsoft Foundry since November 2025. Enterprise customers can run Claude through their existing Azure billing accounts, simplifying vendor management. The integration also extends to Microsoft 365 Copilot, where Claude powers certain agent functionalities.

Third-party platforms like Zapier have enabled no-code workflows connecting Office 365 actions to Claude, allowing non-technical users to automate pipelines without writing code.
