Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has published the first detailed look at Apple's revamped Siri for iOS 27, based on internal sources and revealed ahead of WWDC 2026 on June 8. The redesigned assistant is a major overhaul, the biggest since Siri launched in 2011.

The new Siri lives inside the Dynamic Island and includes a dedicated app with conversation history, a system-wide 'Search or Ask' panel, and support for document and photo uploads. A key feature is a drop-down menu letting users route queries directly to ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Claude.

Crucially, Siri's core functions will run on Google Gemini technology after Apple's own AI models fell short. The company is reportedly paying Google around $1 billion a year for the license. This move comes after a federal court approved a $250 million class action settlement over unfulfilled Apple Intelligence promises.

The integration extends to the Camera app as a dedicated capture mode, replacing the current Visual Intelligence button. Apple is also developing camera-equipped AirPods and smart glasses, both designed to feed visual data to this new Siri, signaling a broader shift toward visual AI. The new Siri ships alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple's first foldable iPhone, likely in September, marking Tim Cook's last major product launch before CEO transition.
