Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping the job market, with a new report from AI giant Anthropic offering insights into which professions are most affected. The study, titled 'Labour Market Impacts of AI,' introduces a measure called 'observed exposure' to track actual AI automation, distinguishing it from theoretical capability.

The analysis reveals that computer and math occupations have the highest observed AI coverage at 35.8%, closely followed by office and administrative roles at 34.3%. Business and finance (28.4%) and sales (26.9%) also show significant exposure. Among individual roles, computer programmers face the highest observed exposure at 74.5%, followed by customer service representatives (70.1%) and data entry keyers (67.1%).

Interestingly, workers in these high-risk professions tend to be older, more educated, better-paid, and more likely to be women. Despite significant exposure, the report found no systematic increase in joblessness since late 2022. However, there is suggestive evidence that hiring of younger workers in these fields has slowed, a trend to monitor.
