Anthropic is reportedly in early-stage discussions to lease data center capacity from Meta Platforms. A deal could be worth $10 billion over two years, though sources caution it could still fall through.
The AI company is seeking lease terms that would allow it to cancel the contract early. This follows a similar clause in Anthropic's recent $1.25 billion monthly deal with SpaceX for supercomputer access.
Anthropic's workloads are optimized for Nvidia chips, making Meta's Nvidia-based servers the likely target over its custom MTIA 400 accelerators.
The potential partnership is notable as the two companies are competitors in the large language model market. Meta recently debuted its Muse Spark 1.1 model, with an API planned to undercut Anthropic's pricing.
For Meta, leasing out capacity could help offset its massive infrastructure spending, which includes a recently committed $50 billion data center campus in Louisiana.
