Animoca Brands is betting the next wave of blockchain users won’t be human. The Hong Kong-based firm, overseeing more than 600 companies, is building infrastructure for what co-founder Yat Siu calls the agentic economy.
The centerpiece is Animoca Minds, a platform launched February 5, 2026, with Ethoswarm and CryptoSlam. It allows non-technical users to deploy autonomous AI agents pre-equipped with blockchain functionalities, handling digital identities and executing transactions independently.
To fuel growth, Animoca initiated the Minds Investment Programme in May 2026, earmarking up to $10 million for ecosystem developers. It also committed $1 million to Superior.Trade on May 28, 2026, to sharpen AI agent trading capabilities.
Siu projects 50 to 200 billion AI agents will exist by 2031, each requiring on-chain wallets. At the low end, agents would outnumber humans on blockchain networks sixfold. Around June 2026, Animoca collaborated with AllScale to enable agentic-focused stablecoin payments, reinforcing the role of coordinated AI fleets across metaverse and real-world commerce.
