Coinbase has launched a new platform allowing artificial intelligence systems to connect directly to user accounts. The service, called Coinbase for Agents, enables AI like ChatGPT to execute trades, manage portfolios, and conduct transactions using the USDC stablecoin.

Users can set spending limits and risk parameters. The AI agent then handles tasks based on plain English instructions. The platform supports both spot and derivatives trading.

All transactions run on USDC. This uses a specific protocol designed for machine-to-machine payments, reducing the need for human approval on each step.

Coinbase's stock rose over 3% on the announcement. The move is part of a broader strategy the company calls "agentic finance." Analysts suggest autonomous agents could drive a significant portion of e-commerce by 2030.

The company also introduced Coinbase Advisor, an in-app AI for personalized recommendations.
