SambaNova Systems announced a $350 million funding round and a new partnership with Intel. The company aims to meet the escalating demand for inference chips crucial for artificial intelligence applications.
These chips are vital for running AI models and enabling real-time decisions, drawing significant investor attention as companies seek superior hardware alternatives to Nvidia. Vista Equity Partners and Cambium Capital spearheaded the funding, with Intel's investment arm also participating.
The capital infusion will support the expansion of SambaNova's SN50 AI chip, enhance its SambaCloud platform, and strengthen enterprise software integrations. SoftBank Corp is set to be the initial customer, deploying the SN50 chip in its Japanese AI data centers.
The collaboration with Intel includes a multi-year agreement to provide cost-effective AI inference solutions for AI-native companies, augmenting Intel's existing data center GPU initiatives. This investment represents a notable expansion for Vista beyond its core enterprise software focus.
