Amazon Web Services Inc. today unveiled two AI-driven tools aimed at strengthening enterprise cloud operations: the AWS DevOps Agent and the AWS Security Agent.

The DevOps Agent functions as an automated site reliability engineer, continuously monitoring applications across cloud and on-premises environments. It investigates incidents in real time by correlating telemetry, code, and deployment data - a step beyond traditional alert-based systems. By analyzing past events, it also offers preventive recommendations to avoid recurring outages.

In trials, Zenchef SAS used the DevOps Agent to detect an identity access management flaw within 30 minutes during a hackathon, allowing engineers to remain focused on development.

Meanwhile, the AWS Security Agent automates penetration testing across entire application portfolios. Unlike standard vulnerability scanners, it validates risks by simulating cyberattacks and proposing fixes directly via Git pull requests. This reduces remediation time from weeks to hours.

According to AWS Product Manager Ayush Singh, the agent maps application logic to uncover hidden flaws often missed by conventional tools. Both agents aim to lighten workloads for human teams without replacing them, especially in mission-critical industries where downtime carries steep costs.

Initially available in U.S., European, and Asia-Pacific regions, both agents are free until further notice. Pricing for the DevOps Agent begins April 10; no date has been set for the Security Agent.
