Corporate America Begins Rationing AI as Costs Skyrocket Beyond Expectations

Microsoft, a leading tech giant and top investor in AI infrastructure, has canceled most of its internal Claude Code licenses due to cost overruns, redirecting teams to its own cheaper tool, GitHub Copilot.

One corporate client reportedly incurred $500 million in a single month using Anthropic's Claude. Uber's COO confirmed the company exhausted its annual AI coding budget in just four months, noting that soaring costs are increasingly "harder to justify" against measurable returns.

AI compute costs have now surpassed human labor expenses in some organizations. Nvidia VP Bryan Catanzaro highlighted this trend, warning it undermines the core economic rationale for AI adoption.
