Epic Games announced on Tuesday it would lay off more than 1,000 employees as it seeks to cut costs following a sharp decline in Fortnite usage.
Chief Executive Tim Sweeney stated the company had been spending "significantly more than we're making" since usage of the game began to fall in 2025. The layoffs, along with $500 million in savings from reduced contracting and marketing expenses, aim to stabilize the business.
