A promotional video featuring NBA star Steph Curry shows a gray and orange smart band on his wrist. The clip includes teaser text reading "A new relationship with your health. Coming soon." along with a Google logo.
Google has not officially confirmed the product, but sources indicate it's a Fitbit-branded smart band. This comes amid increasing competition in the wearable health space, with companies like Garmin, Whoop, and Polar launching similar devices.
The new band is expected to be screenless, similar to Whoop's design. Google's latest Fitbit hardware dates back to 2023, and the company has focused primarily on Pixel watches since then.
Fitbit’s current lineup includes the Charge 6, Inspire 3, Versa 4, and Sense 2 smartwatches. With the smart band segment gaining traction, Fitbit may be positioning itself to compete with rising players like Garmin and Polar.
The band could launch alongside Google's expanded AI health coach in the Fitbit app, which now offers features to free users.
