Google has announced three significant Gemini AI upgrades for Android, rolling out first to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series and Google Pixel 10 phones. These enhancements aim to boost productivity and security on the latest flagship devices.
A key advancement is Gemini's new capability to perform multi-step tasks on an Android phone. Initially available in select apps for rideshare and food ordering, the AI can handle actions like booking an Uber or reordering a meal from DoorDash. The process is initiated by voice command, runs within a secure virtual window with restricted app access, and provides live notifications, allowing user intervention at any time. This feature is initially limited to the U.S. and South Korea.
Google is also enhancing Circle to Search, a feature that allows users to search by circling elements on their screen. The upgraded version can now identify and search multiple items on a single screen simultaneously, such as different pieces of furniture or clothing in an outfit. This allows for more comprehensive searches when curating mood boards or building outfits. The AI can also facilitate virtual try-on experiences for clothing within the Circle to Search flow.

Finally, Android's Scam Detection AI is being expanded and improved. This AI, which detects scams in real-time during phone calls, is coming to the Galaxy S26 series for U.S. users. It is already available on multiple Pixel models and in Google Messages for text-based scams. Google is enhancing the technology to recognize a wider range of scamming techniques, utilizing on-device models for better detection.
