Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and AI firm Anthropic held their inaugural joint event in Singapore on Thursday, following GIC's substantial investments in the company behind the Claude AI.
The closed-door gathering brought approximately 150 senior technology and investment leaders from Singapore to witness live demonstrations of Anthropic's AI tools.
Dominic Soon, senior vice president of private equity at GIC, emphasized that AI is "no longer optional for anyone," describing it as "foundational." He noted that organizations of all sizes benefit from responsible AI implementation, with Anthropic being a recognized leader in the field.
Singapore leads globally in per capita usage of Anthropic's Claude platform. Soon added that Singapore possesses "ample talent" to support companies leveraging AI and is strategically positioned to become a global AI hub.
GIC's involvement with Anthropic began with a US$13 billion Series F investment in September 2025. In February, GIC led a US$30 billion Series G funding round, valuing Anthropic at US$380 billion.
GIC highlighted its role as a bridge connecting tech companies with businesses, institutions, and policymakers across Asia.
Anthropic executives presented practical frameworks for adopting AI, integrating it into company culture, workflows, and product development to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Attendees like Samuel Rhee, co-founder of Endowus, reported significant enhancements to their financial technology platforms through Anthropic's AI models. Quek Siu Rui, CEO of Carousell, expressed optimism about how embracing AI could accelerate business operations.
