Samsung has solidified its position as the leader in Android devices with the unveiling of the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. While external design changes are minimal, the new lineup boasts significant internal upgrades, with a pronounced focus on artificial intelligence. Samsung is branding these as the first "Agentic AI phones," signaling a new era of on-device intelligence.
Despite modest hardware advancements, component costs, driven by AI integration, have led to a $100 price increase for the S26 and S26+ models, now starting at $900 and $1,100 respectively. The premium S26 Ultra maintains its $1,300 price point.
Visually, the S26 family closely resembles its predecessors, with subtle alterations to the camera housing. Notably, the S26 Ultra has transitioned back to an aluminum frame, a move mirroring recent trends in high-end smartphones. The Ultra also continues to feature its integrated S Pen stylus.
At the core of the new devices is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. This advanced 3nm chip features enhanced Oryon CPU cores, an Adreno 840 GPU, and a powerful Hexagon NPU designed for efficient on-device AI processing. Samsung forecasts substantial performance improvements, a claim often made but expected to be realized with this generation's focus on AI acceleration and improved thermal management through an expanded vapor chamber system.
