Google has launched Gemini Spark, an AI agent designed to work around the clock, handling digital tasks on behalf of users. Powered by the new Gemini 3.5 Flash model and Google's Antigravity platform, Spark integrates deeply with Gmail, Docs, and Slides to find information, learn routines, and help users stay organized.
Spark operates in the background, even when users are away from their devices. It functions as a digital secretary, capable of cleaning up inboxes, monitoring credit cards for hidden fees, and compiling daily digests from emails and chats.
Currently limited to Google's ecosystem, Spark will soon connect with third-party services like Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart via Model Context Protocol. Future updates will include SMS capabilities, custom sub-agents, and local browser automation. Users retain full control, with prompts required before high-stakes actions like spending money or sending emails.
Google has also redesigned the Gemini app with a new "Neural Expressive" interface, featuring fluid animations and integrated voice capabilities via Gemini Live. A new Daily Brief feature delivers personalized morning digests. The macOS desktop app will get Spark and advanced voice features this summer, with beta access for U.S. Google AI Ultra subscribers next week.
