Microsoft is officially shutting down its Outlook Lite app. Support for the lightweight email client will end on May 25.

The company first announced the deprecation of Outlook Lite in September. The app, launched in 2022, was designed for lower-powered Android devices and regions with slower internet speeds.

Microsoft has already blocked new downloads of the app since last October. Existing users are advised to switch to the standard Outlook for Android app. An "Upgrade" option is available within the Lite app to facilitate the transition.

The move reflects improved network speeds and more capable budget hardware, reducing the need for a separate, stripped-down application. Users' email accounts and data will not be deleted, but the Lite app itself will become inaccessible after the shutdown date.
