Anthropic’s Fable 5 model may soon return, and this time it could be included in regular subscription plans.
Code strings discovered in Claude Code version 2.1.190 indicate weekly Fable 5 usage will be bundled directly into subscriptions - a shift from the earlier plan to sell access as separate credits. The leaked line reads: “You’ve used your Fable 5 usage for this week.”

An inspection of the production binary confirmed the strings are real. The phrase “purchased separately from your plan” has been removed, suggesting a restructuring of the pricing model. Separately, Amazon Bedrock briefly displayed Fable 5 in its catalog, adding to the signals.
The model was pulled on June 12 after the Trump administration issued an emergency export directive citing a jailbreak vulnerability. Tensions eased after Anthropic tapped co‑founder Tom Brown to lead White House discussions, replacing CEO Dario Amodei. President Trump has since said he no longer views the company as a national security threat.
The model remains offline, but the code changes point to active preparations for a return with a recurring weekly allocation built into subscriber plans.
