Meta Platforms announced Wednesday the debut of Muse Spark, the inaugural artificial intelligence model from its specialized superintelligence team. This initiative follows a significant investment in talent and restructuring aimed at closing the gap with AI competitors.

Facing pressure to demonstrate returns on substantial AI expenditures, Meta is positioning Muse Spark as a foundational element in its AI strategy. The company previously acquired Scale AI CEO Alex Wang and offered substantial compensation to engineers for its new superintelligence division.

Muse Spark is slated to be initially deployed on the Meta AI app and website. In the coming weeks, it will supersede the current Llama models that power chatbots across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta's smart glasses.

"This initial model is small and fast by design, yet capable enough to reason through complex questions in science, math, and health. It is a powerful foundation, and the next generation is already in development," Meta stated.
