Meta is installing new software on U.S.-based employees’ computers to capture mouse movements, clicks, and keystrokes. This data will be used to train artificial intelligence models as part of a larger initiative to develop AI agents capable of performing work tasks autonomously.

The tool will operate on work-related applications and websites, capturing occasional screen snapshots for contextual information. According to an internal memo, the goal is to improve AI models in areas where they currently struggle, such as navigating dropdown menus and utilizing keyboard shortcuts.

A Meta spokesperson stated that the collected data will strictly be used for model training and will not be applied to performance assessments. Safeguards are reportedly in place to protect sensitive content, ensuring the models receive real-world examples of computer usage for training purposes.
