Mistral AI has acquired Koyeb, a startup known for its cloud platform designed to run artificial intelligence workloads. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Paris-based Mistral AI, a developer of open-source large language models, aims to integrate Koyeb's technology to enhance its existing sandboxing features for code generation models and improve its Mistral Compute cloud platform. This acquisition is expected to improve GPU efficiency and the performance of Mistral's LLMs on customer on-premises infrastructure.

Koyeb's platform allows developers to deploy AI workloads quickly without managing underlying hardware, featuring autoscaling capabilities that adjust resources based on demand. It also addresses the challenge of restarting idle applications, enabling relaunch in under 200 milliseconds. The company's infrastructure supports workloads across 10 global data centers, with built-in redundancy.

Koyeb's recent addition, Koyeb Sandboxes, creates isolated environments for AI agents to run securely, supporting the generation of thousands of agents daily for tasks like code generation.

The 16-person Koyeb team is set to join Mistral AI in March to support these engineering efforts.
